How to set up payment methods and surcharges your property accepts via your booking engine when using SiteMinder Pay.

Note:

  • The settings for accepted payments only apply to bookings made via your SiteMinder booking engine, when using SiteMinder Pay.

  • To set up the payment methods your property accepts in your booking engine, go to Payment.

When guests make a booking through your SiteMinder booking engine, they will be required to enter their payment card details (unless you have chosen to accept non-guaranteed bookings or don’t have a Deposit set up for a specific direct booking rate).

Set up your accepted payment methods in your booking engine to ensure your guests only make a booking using payment card types that your property is able to process, with the relevant surcharges (if applicable).

Note:

  • If reservation deposits are enabled and a card surcharge is set up, the surcharge will be applied to the total amount of the deposit(s).

  • For all third-party payment gateways, you will need to set up accepted cards, fees and surcharges on the gateway.

Security steps to access the Payment page

The Payment page is a secure area — follow these steps to access the Payment page to edit your Payment settings.

  1. Go to Direct Booking > Setup > Property > Payment.

  2. Click on Edit.

  3. An e-mail containing a security code will be sent to your user account’s e-mail address.

  4. Open the security code email and note the provided Security Token.

  5. Return to the Security Access Required window and enter the Security Token.

  6. Click on Confirm.

Set up credit cards

To set up the credit cards and surcharges your property accepts via your SiteMinder booking engine:

  1. Go to Payment.

  2. Under Credit Cards, tick the checkbox next to each credit card you accept.

  3. If applicable, enter the percentage surcharge.

  4. Click Save.

Before adding a credit card surcharge, please check to ensure it complies with local regulations. Payment card surcharges are not permitted in certain countries.

Set up other payment methods

Other payment methods can be used for your booking engine when a Deposit is required at the time of booking. Other payment methods include:

  • Apple Pay — unavailable if your booking engine is embedded into a website.

  • Google Pay.

  • iDEAL — available in Europe (excluding the UK).

To set up other payment methods that your property accepts via the booking engine:

  1. Go to Payment.

  2. Under Other payment methods, tick the checkbox next to each payment method you accept.

  3. If applicable, enter the percentage surcharge.

  4. Click Save.

Note:

  • Other payment methods can only be used when a Deposit is required at the time of booking (when using SiteMinder’s booking engine and SiteMinder Pay).

  • When a payment is made using a method set up in ‘Other payment methods’ such as Apple Pay / Google Pay, the full payment card number will not be stored and therefore cannot be used for any other future payments.

  • In Hong Kong and Singapore, credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are the only available payment methods.

  • For new customers to SiteMinder Pay and/or the new booking engine, digital wallets (e.g. Apple Pay and Google Pay) will be automatically enabled when your account is activated.

  • If your property accepts Apple Pay and Google Pay, you will need to include a privacy statement in your property’s Terms, conditions and privacy policy.

  • A surcharge for digital wallets can be set up to reflect payment card surcharges (this must comply with local regulations). Please note that payment card surcharges are not permitted in certain countries.
