Mapping your rates

The base process to map your rates to Booking.com is not different than the process to map other channels.

When reaching the mapping window for a specific room rate, all channels normally give the following options:

  • Start updating channel - Select "Yes" to start updating the channel with inventory information

  • Map to - Click on the drop-down menu and select the rate you wish to map between The Channel Manager and Booking.com. After you select a rate, the green rectangles show what type of updates Booking.com is allowing The Channel Manager to send to the mapped rate. Updates that are not sent are in red rectangles.

However some channels give additional options as well. In the case of Booking.com these options vary depending on which pricing model the property is set to use.

Booking.com Pricing Models

Booking.com has two pricing models for properties to choose from:

  • Standard pricing (mostly not occupancy based)

  • Occupancy based pricing (OBP)

All of the settings in the sections below have lock icons.

If the lock icon is blue, it indicates that this setting is automatically taken from the room rate in the Channel Manager.

If you wish to overwrite these values for the channel rate you are mapping, click the lock symbol to unlock it, which will let you adjust the values as needed.

Standard pricing model

With Standard pricing model, the price for the room is assigned each day without difference regardless of the number of guests staying in the room. Except for the option to give a discount if only one guest is staying in the room.

There will be only the option Single Guest Discount that will appear under Extras/Discounts. This will apply a discount if only one guest books the room.

These are the options for it in the interface:

  • Amount - A fixed discount in your Channel Manager's currency.

  • Percentage - A discount based on a percentage of the price depending on the stay date.

  • None - If you set the discount type to None, then no discount will be applied.

Occupancy Based Pricing model (OBP)

With Booking.com OBP model the hotelier can vary the cost based on the amount of guests, instead of having a set cost per rental unit.

With the Occupancy Based Pricing model there will be additional information needed (under the Occupancy Details section):

  • Included Occupancy - The number of guests included in the price of the room under this rate.

  • Max Occupancy - Maximum amount of guests the room can be booked for, under this rate.

  • Extra Adult Rate - The amount to be charged for each extra guest not included in the Included Occupancy, in the Channel Manager's currency.

  • Single Guest Discount - This will apply a discount if only one guest books the room.

    • Amount - A fixed discount in your Channel Manager's currency.

    • Percentage - A discount based on a percentage of the price depending on the stay date.

    • None - If you set the discount type to None, then no discount will be applied.
